Waana Cry Ransomware The Growing Threat to Cyber World

By now I am sure you have already heard something about the WannaCry ransomware, and are wondering what's going on, who is doing this, and whether your computer is secure from this insanely fast-spreading threat that has already hacked nearly 200,000 Windows PCs over the weekend. Compared to other countries, India is still in its early stages of adopting digital services. Which is why there has been a huge outcry about Aadhaar and the data that it holds.

Wanna Cry Hits the computer which is running on Microsoft Windows Operating System. In Case of India , we are having more windows user and is still running in various government departments , offices and in Banks too .
The Reserve Bank of India has asked all the banks to put in place a software update at ATM to protect their systems from a malware that has attacked payment systems across the world.But after reading this awareness article, you would be so cautious that you can save yourself from WannaCry, as well as other similar cyber-attacks in the future.For those unaware, Ransomware is a computer virus that usually spreads via spam emails and malicious download links; specially designed to lock up the files on a computer, until the victim pays the ransom demand, usually $300-$500 in Bit coins.

                                    Now bitcoin is a form of digital currency, the one who create this ransomware demands the money in form of Bitcoins because owners of bitcoin addresses are not explicitly identified. To heighten financial privacy, a new bitcoin address can be generated for each transaction which means you can create a new payment address for every sender. So No one can trace who is receiving the money.

What Has Happened So Far 
The first attack happens on Friday when this malware was first emerged and hit several hospitals across the globe, eventually forcing them to shut down their entire IT systems over the weekend, hence rejecting patients appointments, and cancel operations.

Later this cyber-attack brought down many organizations to their knees.
·         Day 1: OutCry — WannaCry targeted over 90,000 computers in 99 countries.
·         Day 2: The Patch Day — A security researcher successfully found a way to slow down the infection rate, and meanwhile, Microsoft releases emergency patch updates for unsupported versions of Windows.
·         Day 3: New Variants Arrives — Just yesterday, some new variants of WannaCry 2.0, with and without a kill-switch, was detected in the wild would be difficult to stop for at least next few weeks.

How to Protect Yourself from WannaCry Ransomware?

Wanna Cry Ransomware Guidelines to stay safe :
  • Be careful to click on harmful links in your emails.
  • Be wary of visiting unsafe or unreliable sites.
  • Never click on a link that you do not trust on a web page or access to Facebook or messaging applications such as WatSab and other applications.
  • If you receive a message from your friend with a link, ask him before opening the link to confirm, (infected machines send random messages with links).
  • Keep your files backed up regularly and periodically.
  • Be aware of fraudulent e-mail messages that use names similar to popular services such as PayePal instead of PayPal or use popular service names without commas or excessive characters.
  • Use anti virus and Always make have the last update.
  • Make sure your windows have the last update close the gap.
Update 5/15/2017 : 
The entry of the virus to your device, which is dependent on a gap in the Windows system and the gap is present in all types of Windows is that the feature is open.
if you did no't update your windows just turn off SMP,
There are two methods to turn off SMP manually or Tools . 
First Manually :
1.Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features.
2. Remove check Box  SMB1.0/CIF Filse Sharing Support.
3. you must be restart your computer.
Done! Now you are safe. 

2. Tools :
Link Download direct: SMB2 Tools Disable 
2.First check if the Features is turn on !.
when you run the tools will show this, if you see SMB2 currently enable so you must be Disabled it  

3. SMB2 IS currently disabled.
4. you must be restart your computer.
Done! Now you are safe.
